Aluminium Doors in Eastbourne

23 February 2017 · Updated 12 August 2026

In short: we supply and install the full aluminium door range in Eastbourne, from bi-folds and sliding doors to front and French doors. Which one suits you depends far more on your opening and how you will use it than on any general claim about the product.

Which type of door do I actually need?

This is the question worth settling before you get prices, because the answer changes the specification and the cost.

If you are weighing up the first two, our guide to bi-fold or sliding doors sets out the trade-off properly.

Does the coastal location matter for doors?

Yes, in two ways. First, exposure: salt-laden air is harder on external finishes, and a powder-coated aluminium frame handles that better than timber and without repainting. Second, and more practically, wind. A large glazed opening on an exposed elevation sees more wind load than the same door inland, and that is a factor in how the opening is specified and fixed.

Tell us how exposed the property is when we survey. It genuinely changes the recommendation, particularly on wide openings facing the sea.

How wide can the opening be?

Wider than most people expect, but the honest limit depends on three things: the system, the size and weight of the individual panes, and what the structure above the opening can carry. Removing a section of rear wall usually means a new beam, which is a structural question for your builder or engineer rather than for us.

We would rather establish what is achievable at survey than quote a maximum in the abstract, because the constraint is normally the building rather than the door.

What about thresholds and level access?

Both bi-fold and sliding systems are available with low or flush threshold options. It is worth raising early, because the threshold has to be coordinated with the internal floor build-up and with drainage outside. Retrofitting that decision after the floor is laid is expensive; agreeing it at design stage costs nothing.

What about security?

A large glazed door is not inherently a weak point, provided the locking, the glass and the installation are right. We cover what to ask for in how secure are aluminium bi-fold doors, and the same questions apply to sliding and front doors.

Common questions

Do you fit aluminium doors to flats and balconies in Eastbourne?

Yes. On a leasehold property you will usually need freeholder or managing agent consent, and access may need planning. Establish consent before ordering.

Can I have a different colour inside and out?

Yes. Powder coating allows dual colour, which is useful when the exterior needs to suit the elevation and the interior needs to suit the room. See colour options and finishes.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward door replacement is usually quick; an opening that needs structural work is governed by the builder's programme rather than ours. We give a realistic timescale after survey.

Do you cover the surrounding area?

Yes, across East and West Sussex, including Hailsham, Polegate, Seaford, Newhaven and Bexhill.
